Christina has been an Amazing resource for helping me plan our wedding. She has gone above and beyond and done way more than what a catering company should do. I would be lost without the help and information she has given. The wedding planner i spoke with also said Sunset is hands down the best catering company in Tamarindo especially for weddings. I haven’t had a chance to test the food out but the pictures look amazing. I literally cannot think of a company that has provided a better customer experience in my entire life. Having a company like Sunset catering really takes a lot of the stress and worry away from planning a wedding because you just know they will be 2 steps ahead of everything. My family had the tremendous pleasure of meeting Chris and Rick recently when they catered two events for us. The first was a rehearsal party for my daughter’s wedding, the second was the wedding reception. Both events were a huge success. One event was a “heavy appetizer” type of dinner, the second was a “sit-down dinner”. As a result we were able to enjoy their full menu. All of their food is excellent and we received many, many compliments from our guests on the excellent food and presentation. For any type of catering event, you cannot go wrong with Sunset Catering. Their prices were also very fair and reasonable.
Los Olivos is a hidden gem for parties and wedding receptions. After we completed the wedding ceremony near the beach, we enjoyed drinks and appetizers while visiting and watching the sun set. We had approximately 80 guests ad the venue was perfect. My wife and daughter had scouted the western coast of Costa Rica for the perfect spot, and they found it at Los Olivos.
My greatest recommendation for Los Olivos and Sunset Catering however, is due to their prompt, courteous responses to every request. Most vendors will respond late or provide unresponsive answers. Chris always responded immediately with accurate, timely and wise recommendations. Their friendly, trustworthy service is the primary reason they deserve all the business they can accommodate.
Los Olivos and Sunset Catering have my highest recommendation.

Chris and Rick of Sunset Catering did an amazing job on the food and beverage for our wedding this July at Sueño del Mar. We had a large crowd (almost 60 people) and they pulled it off flawlessly! Our guests are still raving about the food!! Planning with Chris was EASY. They took charge and made sure every detail was planned for and executed. Their staff was lovely as well. Thank you for the wonderful service and food! It makes us want to get married all over again.

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!
We just had our wedding in Tamarindo at a beach front home and had Sunset Catering supply our dinner. They did far more than just feed us though!!! They made my bride brain calm and happy. Rick and Chris had incredible email contact with us throughout the entire planning process since none of the wedding party had ever been to Tamarindo. They had excellent suggestions and answers to ALL of our questions. Plus, Chris and Rick made time to come over and meet us in person before the wedding and prepare us for the wedding day. What friendly people! They introduced us to the most incredible bartender, all of our guests were talking about Collette for days!
And the food….SCRUMPTIOUS! EXOTIC! PERFECTLY PREPARED! I don’t know how we lucked out with suck a price for such incredible food! Everyone that attended the wedding said it was the BEST wedding meal they ever had! I looked into a couple other catering companies before deciding on Sunset Catering, and I guarantee you will hit a home run if you choose them. And if you want the best menu ever, ask them for the ‘rainbow wedding’ menu! Mmmm mmm!

Sunset Catering was our lifesaver during our week in Costa Rica for our 60 wedding guests. Our wedding was catered by our hotel, Cala Luna, but we had experienced on-again, off-again communication and problems getting answers to questions about the menu for some of our non-main events: a welcome party hosted at our villa, a hosted bridesmaids’ luncheon, and the post-reception after party. While my fiancee and her parents did battle on that front, I knew I was in charge of one event: the rehearsal dinner. After an enormous amount of research, I decided on Sunset Catering, thanks in no small part to how responsive they were to every question I had. I never looked back; they were so fantastic about helping us figure out what we needed, what we wanted, and what we hadn’t even considered yet. Suffice it to say, by a week before take off for Tamarindo, my fiancee had also given them all of our extra events in addition to the rehearsal dinner.
From the moment we met Chris and Rick (and bonded over our mutual love for Santa Barbara– we had just stayed in the same hotel a week apart! and our metro-DC Maryland provenance),we knew they were on our wavelength. They put every effort into making sure everything was as low stress and fun as possible, and went above and beyond to help us organize a sound system and music, as well as finding a home for our cigar roller that was rejected last minute from our actual reception venue. The food at every single event was above and beyond: the fresh taco bar at the rehearsal, the delicious salads and light lunch for the bridesmaids’ luncheon, the perfect finger foods for the welcome party, and the absolutely awesome pre-hangover mac and cheese and sliders for our after party.
They showed up early, they planned ahead, they offered us a couple of extra bottles of their own wine they had chilled at Los Olivos because our wedding planner was running two hours late with the cava for the bridesmaid luncheon and they could see my fiancee was about to freak out. Their calm, relaxed attitude was a tonic throughout the week.
The rehearsal dinner itself was held at Los Olivos, which was just across the street from Cala Luna, where we (and all of our guests) were staying. The beautiful lights, the casual yet elegant atmosphere, and the absolutely stunning sunset (that part might have been more Tamarindo-related, but hey, Sunset Catering sure lived up to their name!), the drinks, the mic, it all just felt easy and flawless. And the meal we heard the most about from a weeks’ worth of fantastic group dinners all over Tamarindo? That taco bar. To reduce all of those conversations to their material points: IT WAS SO GOOD over and over again.
It’s actually taken us a year to write this review, but thinking back on everything, this was really such a highlight, and they were by far the easiest and best thing about organizing a wedding from really, really far away. Thank you again!
